Competition in UK energy markets would be strengthened considerably if devolved regions were properly equipped to act as strong strategic customers for energy infrastructure. This will benefit customers everywhere.
My response to Ofgem’s consultation on the next round of regulation for distribution networks (RIIO-2) written on behalf of the West Midlands, begins to make this case, calling for the establishment of Regional Energy Infrastructure Procurement and Commissioning Bodies in the UK.
